Potting Shed Plans

My wife really likes her gardening, especially growing her own flowers. She also likes shopping and has bought more tools for her hobby than I even knew existed.  That’s before you start on all the pots, seed trays, sticks ties and labels. Then there is the potting compost, fertiliser, rooting compound. Whatever a flower needs, she’s got it.

I came up with the idea that a potting shed would make a really unique gift. And OK, it would get all of her stuff out of my garage. The first thing I did was to go online to look for potting shed plans and I was surprised. Maybe it wasn’t such a mad idea after all.

I had no idea how many different designs were available. You can get something that does the job as far as storage is concerned. But you can also set up a really nice work environment where you get on with planting your cuttings and potting on, even in bad weather.

Another thing is that the shed can be beautiful as well as functional and even enhance your backyard landscape. That is an important consideration for a garden lover. Depending on your imagination and budget, it could become a main feature to be admired, rather than just a wooden box.

This gift idea was growing on me, but so was the size of the project. You know how that goes! It is a good idea to get yourself a good set of professional potting shed plans. That way, you will know exactly what you need and how much it is going to cost.

If you are going for the gift idea, you will also want to be sure that you can get  the project completed on time. You don’t want to overshoot her birthday and have it end up as a Valentines day gift.

You will also need to check out local building regulations. If the shed is being used for more than just storage, you might have to get a permit. Good shed plans will probably have some advice on this.

One thing that could be included in the code is the requirements for the foundation. This is something you want to get right anyway. A poor foundation means trouble in store for the future. Done properly, your shed will give you years of service.

Another factor not to be neglected is what you will use to protect your completed structure from the weather. Painting or staining with good quality materials is a wise investment. But you have to take account of the cost and time involved. Your potting shed plans should help with this too.

Whether or not you think this is a great gift idea, it can certainly be an attractive and useful addition to your home. The garden lovers will appreciate it and you can reclaim some space in your garage.
